In an unexpected turn of events, K-pop star G-Dragon and his music label YG Entertainment are currently under investigation for alleged copyright infringement. The controversy surrounds a song originally composed by a person identified as "A," which was reportedly unlawfully reproduced, altered, and renamed for G-Dragon's 2010 album, Shine a Light.

The original song, titled G-Dragon, was featured on the 2001 album Perry By Storm by YG artist Perry. The contested track reappeared under the title My Age 13 in G-Dragon’s album, as part of a medley including songs like Storm and Dandy Gentleman. Composer A filed a lawsuit targeting G-Dragon, Yang Hyun-suk (former YG rep), the then-current YG rep Yang Min-seok, and a YG Plus representative for copyright infringement.

The police have conducted at least two raids on YG Entertainment and the Korea Music Copyright Association as part of their ongoing investigation. However, the details of the investigation have not been disclosed due to its ongoing nature.

Despite the ongoing investigation, G-Dragon and his fellow Korean celebrities, including PSY and Lee Hyori, have seen an increase in sales for their star-endorsed alcohol products.

In a different note, G-Dragon has collaborated with artist Vince on a new single titled "Cha Cha Cha." The digital release is expected to be available soon, with Vince confirming the release date as Aug. 18. The single features G-Dragon from the music label THE BLACK LABEL, of which G-Dragon is a member.

Meanwhile, G-Dragon will be bringing his 'Übermensch' exhibition to Hong Kong and Osaka. The Malaysian Paralympic athletes have also thanked G-Dragon for inviting them to his world tour.

YG Entertainment, in response to the copyright infringement allegations, argues that the issue arose when two songs with the same title were listed in a setlist for G-Dragon's 2009 solo performance under different titles, leading to confusion rather than unauthorized reproduction. The Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) clarified that G-Dragon was never credited as a lyricist or composer for the song and received no royalties from it. KOMCA also denied reports of a raid on its office related to this case, calling those reports false.

As the investigation continues, the music industry and fans alike await further developments in this copyright infringement case. The release of G-Dragon's new single, "Cha Cha Cha," serves as a reminder of his continued contributions to the world of music.
