Viktor Gyokeres shares details about his preferred future team following transfer proposals from Arsenal and Manchester United
It looks like Viktor Gyokeres is primed to leave Sporting CP for Arsenal this summer, according to the grapevine. This 27-year-old Swede has showered European football with goals throughout his career, cementing his reputation as one of the most formidable strikers on the continent.
After an astounding second season with Sporting, where he notched up a staggering 54 goals in just 52 games, Gyokeres has become a hot commodity. A slew of elite teams have expressed interest, but it appears that Arsenal is leading the pack in the race to acquire this prolific forward.
Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester United have all been linked with Gyokeres, with the latter reaching out with a lucrative offer. However, Gyokeres seems intent on securing a spot in the Champions League next term and is rumored to have turned down the offer from United in favor of a move to Arsenal.
Despite a contentious spat between Gyokeres' agent and Sporting CP's president, the partnership seems determined to iron out any issues and hammer out a deal. According to talkSPORT, Gyokeres has even shared his plans with loved ones, suggesting they should expect to see him donning the Arsenal colors next season.
Arsenal has reportedly submitted an opening offer of €55m (£46.8m) for Gyokeres, but Sporting has flatly rejected it. The south Londoners are readying to return with an improved bid in the near future. Gyokeres himself took to Instagram last week to address the numerous rumors, stating simply, "There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right."
In the event that negotiations with Gyokeres stall, Arsenal still has a solid Plan B up its sleeve in the form of RB Leipzig's Benjamin Šeško. However, Leipzig has demanded an exorbitant sum of over £70m for the attacker, which may force the Gunners to search for more reasonable alternatives in the market.
