The latest numbers show an impressive turnout in Poland's presidential showdown. A staggering 24.83% of eligible voters hit the polls by midday per the Warsaw election commission, surpassing the same point during the 2020 election. And with over 29 million citizens eligible to vote, that adds up to a significant number!

Seems like the incumbent Andrzej Duda isn't eligible for a third term this time around. The stage has been set for a face-off between the favorites: the liberal Rafal Trzaskowski, backed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and the right-wing conservative Karol Nawrocki, favored by the opposition PiS party.

The voting polls close at 21:00, with early projections to follow. Poland typically abstains from exit polls, similar to Germany. The official results will be announced on Monday.

Naturally, the dust-up leading to this election has drawn attention internationally.

Interestingly, it's the 2025 election we're witnessing right now, not the 2022 election as you might initially assume. In 2022, Poland didn't hold a presidential election. The last one was in 2020, where Andrzej Duda took the title. (Keep in mind that the data for the 2025 election was not available when we were writing about the 2020 election.)

In the 2025 runoff, the conservative Karol Nawrocki has triumphed, with 50.89% of the votes, while Rafał Trzaskowski secured 49.11%[1]. The election was a close call, with Nawrocki championing restrictive migration policies, questioning EU climate policies, and Trzaskowski pushing for judicial independence and closer EU ties[1][4]. The election outcome drew reactions from European leaders congratulating Nawrocki on his victory[2].

Both Trzaskowski and Nawrocki were top contenders in the runoff, with Trzaskowski also running against Duda in 2020. That election saw a high voter turnout and was significant as it was the last time Duda rose to the top.

  1. As the 2025 Polish presidential election reveals a tight race between liberal candidate Rafal Trzaskowski and conservative candidate Karol Nawrocki, the ongoing debate around policies such as migration, EU relations, and climate change within the community could potentially impact future vocational training and general-news discussions.
  2. Given the politics surrounding the 2025 presidential election in Poland, a newly elected president, such as Karol Nawrocki, could potentially influence the country's community policy, with potential effects on vocational training programs and general-news coverage within the nation.
