Vigilante Frank Castle, Back in Action, Resumes His Deadly Pursuit as the Punisher
Ready for some dark, gritty action? Get ready to welcome back the Punisher!
Starting from September 2025, the infamous Punisher, aka Frank Castle, makes his long-awaited comeback to the comic book world in the limited five-issue series, Punisher: Red Band. This hard-hitting miniseries is a collaboration between Benjamin Percy (Wolverine) and Julius Ohta (Iron Man).
After his last appearance in 2023, where Frank took control of the Hand ninja cult, learned his wife was alive andat the brink of divorce, and found himself in Weirdworld, this new story finds Frank back in New York City, with no recollection of his past life. But don’t fret, dear readers, because his talent for taking lives remains unmatched! Expect some serious chaos as Frank immerses himself back in the city where he's best known for bloody mayhem[3].
Benjamin Percy expresses his excitement about diving into the Punisher universe, noting, “Punisher is a series I’ve been dreaming of writing for years. Get ready for a no-holds-barred adrenaline rush as I take you deep into the minds of our hairy psychopaths. This is as brutal as it gets, with street-level mayhem awaiting you!”[1]
Marvel has faced uncertainty regarding the Punisher due to his Netflix series’ heavily armed vigilante angle, which garnered attention in the wake of mass shootings, as well as his symbol being co-opted by police forces for their vehicles[2]. The upcoming Daredevil: Born Again may tackle this issue by having Frank eliminate the Punisher patrol cops and outright stating they need an overhaul[2].
Catch the mayhem for yourself when Punisher: Red Band hits shelves on September 10, 2025.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming releases in the Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek universes, the future of the DC Universe on film and TV, and all things to come for everyone's favorite Time Lord in Doctor Who.
