Vigilante Frank Castle, Back in Action, Prepared to Wreak Havoc as the Punisher Again
Starting on September 10, 2025, Marvel's gun-wielding vigilante, Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, returns to the comic book world in the five-issue miniseries titled "Punisher: Red Band." The creators behind this gritty series are Ben Percy, renowned for his work on "Wolverine," and Julius Ohta, celebrated for his work on "Iron Man."
After his last appearance in 2023, where he took control of the Hand ninja cult, learned his wife was alive and sought a divorce, and was later sent to Weirdworld, Frank is now back in New York, albeit with no memory of his past life. However, he still maintains his proficiency in dispensing violence, a skill that will undoubtedly be put to use. This Frank, much like his TV counterpart, is set to engage in a series of bloody exploits.
In keeping with the mature and graphic nature of the storyline, "Punisher: Red Band" will be packaged in Marvel's Red Band polybag format, restricting access to younger readers due to its explicit content.
Ben Percy, expressing his excitement about writing this series, shares, "Frank Castle is one of my all-time favorite characters, and I've long been eager to pen a 'Punisher' series. This series will push the boundaries of my favorite genre: ultra-violent psychopaths. Prepare for grimy, relentless action."
Frank Castle's fate in comics has been uncertain at times, influenced by his Netflix series' timing, which coincided with mass shootings, and the use of his symbol by police. The upcoming series "Daredevil: Born Again" has previously addressed this issue by having Frank assassinate a group of Punisher-named police officers.
