View 'Lilith Fair: Unraveling the Enigma' this Sunday, September 21st, on Hulu and Hulu under Disney.
The upcoming documentary, "Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery," is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. This compelling film, produced by ABC News Studios and CBC, tells the untold story of the groundbreaking music festival Lilith Fair, which was started by Sarah McLachlan and her team in the late 1990s.
The documentary will launch the new season of CBC's flagship documentary series "The Passionate Eye." In Canada, the documentary will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 17, on CBC and CBC Gem. For our American audience, the documentary will premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers on Sunday, Sept. 21. Internationally, excluding Canada, it will also be available on Disney+.
"Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery" features interviews with original Lilith Fair artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Paula Cole, Jewel, Mýa, Natalie Merchant, Indigo Girls, and Emmylou Harris. It also showcases a new generation of artists who have carried the torch, including Brandi Carlile and Olivia Rodrigo.
The documentary is directed by Ally Pankiw and produced by Dan Levy's Not A Real Production Company and Elevation Pictures for ABC News Studios. White Horse Pictures, known for productions like THE BEATLES: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK - THE TOURING YEARS and PAVAROTTI, is also involved in the production of this highly anticipated documentary.
In other exciting news, Sarah McLachlan will release her first studio album of new music in over a decade, "Better Broken," on Sept. 19. The album, produced by Tony Berg and Will Maclellan, is a soul-searching reflection on the fortitude that comes from weathering life's constant storms.
To top it all off, McLachlan will be touring with her band across Canada this fall. CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada's national public broadcaster, known for its distinctively homegrown entertainment programming, is undoubtedly the perfect platform for this much-anticipated return.
