Vietnam’s Deadly Floods Leave Kazakh Tourists Stranded in Chaos

Heavy rains in Vietnam have triggered severe flooding and landslides, leaving destruction across several regions. The crisis has affected thousands, including Kazakh tourists currently in the country. Authorities in Kazakhstan have responded with guidance for their citizens abroad.

The worst-hit areas include resort cities like Hoi An and Nha Trang. Floodwaters submerged Hoi An’s historic centre, coating streets in thick layers of silt once the water retreated. The disaster has caused fatalities, forced evacuations, and damaged infrastructure.

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry addressed the situation, confirming that several thousand of its citizens are in Vietnam. Diplomatic teams, led by Aibek Smadiyarov, are coordinating support through the Kazakh Embassy in Hanoi and the Honorary Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. So far, no Kazakh tourists have requested assistance from these offices.

The flooding has disrupted travel and daily life in key Vietnamese destinations. Kazakh diplomats remain on standby to help their citizens if needed. For now, no emergencies involving Kazakh tourists have been reported.
