Vietnam's 2025 Young Innovator Transforms Viettel's AI and Data Strategy Globally
Nguyễn Chí Đổng, a 30-year-old technology specialist, has been named Vietnam's Outstanding Young Face of 2025. Working as deputy head of Viettel's Data Management Solutions Division, he has played a key role in developing advanced platforms that streamline data and AI for businesses. Đổng leads projects that simplify complex technology for wider use. His team created the Viettel Lakehouse Platform (VLP), a central system for storing, integrating, and processing vast amounts of data. This platform now supports Viettel's operations in Vietnam and six international markets: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Peru, and Mozambique. By April 2026, its deployment had cut foreign product costs by around $9.2 million domestically and saved $15 million annually overseas through optimised data handling and reduced cloud spending.
Another innovation, the **Viettel Machine Learning Platform (vMLP)**, automates AI model development. It slashes the time needed to build and deploy models by **75%**, making AI tools more accessible. Đổng also contributed to **Generative Business Intelligence (GenBI)**, a system that acts as an analytical assistant for managers. It helps them make faster, more precise decisions by interpreting complex data. Beyond technology, Đổng emphasises practical training for young people. He believes teaching tech skills directly supports Vietnam's digital growth. His advice to youth is straightforward: start with small, familiar steps, keep learning, and stay determined in chasing ambitious goals.
The platforms Đổng helped develop are now core to Viettel's data strategy. The VLP alone has expanded to multiple countries, delivering major cost savings. His work continues to push for simpler, more efficient technology—both within the company and across Vietnam's digital economy.
