Crank up the excitement, football lovers! The sixth National Seven-a-Side Football Championship, affectionately known as the Bia Saigon Dragon Cup (VPL-S6), is set to take off on May 18, bringing together a record-breaking 60 teams nationwide!
The championship, which has grown steadily since its debut in 2022, will create history by featuring more teams than ever before! With regions expanding from three to a staggering eight, the tournament promises an electrifying showdown of footy skills all across the land.
The Seven-a-Side phenomenon has swept through Vietnam like wildfire, capturing the hearts of players and spectators alike. So far, the number of live spectators and online views has skyrocketed – in 2024, more than 200,000 fans flocked to stadiums and over 45 million tuned in online.

The top regional contenders will duke it out in the final round, which will take place in Hanoi at the end of July.
The defending champions, Đại Từ FC, will enter the pit with their eyes on the trophy once more, having triumphed last year against the fierce opposition of Thiên Khôi FC in a nail-biting penalty shootout.
Besides the official matches, the organizers will also host a spectacular show match featuring the best seven-a-side players in the country – a veritable dream team! They'll go head-to-head with professional stars and renowned national players from the traditional eleven-a-side squad.

The competition's general director, Phạm Ngọc Tuấn, couldn't contain his excitement, stating that the core system of the VPL has been flourishing, attracting millions of viewers both online and offline. In addition to upgrading the domestic seven-a-side football experience, the organizers, in collaboration with SABECO, have plans to take the tournament global – with an international event lined up for August 2025. Football enthusiasts from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia are expected to partake in this event, giving the homegrown football style a truly international platform.
