Vietnam remains prepared to offer contributions at AIPA-46: chief legislator

The 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46) took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, Tan Sri Dato Johari bin Abdul, presiding over the meeting as the AIPA-46 President.

The theme of the assembly, 'Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable ASEAN', resonates with the overall commitment of this year's ASEAN Chairmanship. The focus of the resolutions at AIPA-46 centered on fostering cooperation in areas such as the digital economy, digital transformation, cybersecurity, intra-regional trade enhancement, effective partnerships, and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in maintaining peace and stability.

During the meeting, delegations from AIPA member parliaments, including the AIPA Secretary-General, were in attendance. The first key event was to review and finalize the main agenda, committee discussions, the list of draft resolutions, and other important issues for the assembly.

Notable attendees included National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mã̂n of Việt Nam. Chairman Mã̂n expressed Việt Nam's readiness to positively contribute to the overall success of AIPA-46. He showed his appreciation towards the support of member parliaments for Việt Nam's proposed draft resolutions and reiterated Việt Nam's commitment to supporting and collaborating with AIPA member parliaments for the success of AIPA-46.

Chairman Mã̂n also expressed support for the inclusive and sustainable development in the region. He attended the AIPA Executive Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday.

The theme of AIPA-46 reflects the responsibility and solidarity of AIPA member parliaments in strengthening unity and building a resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centred ASEAN Community. The resolutions, once approved, are expected to pave the way for a more connected and harmonious ASEAN region.
