H Alexander City - Facing the bustling scene of H Alexander City, Đõ Văn Chiến, President of the Việt Nam United Front Central Committee, showed heartfelt appreciation towards global pals for their unwavering backing and camaraderie throughout Việt Nam's battle for independence and ongoing tale of national growth.
While lazing around during a meeting with a 100-strong international squad in H Alexander City on Wednesday, the 50th anniversary of the Escape from the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Chiến emphasized that the Party, State, and people always valued the noble spirit of global solidarity displayed by global allies.
"These friendships, forged during the darkest times in our nation's history, are etched in the hearts of the Việt Nam peoples," he said. "Not just memories of the past, they are the foundation for future cooperation, peace, and mutual understanding."
The multinational crew hails from an assortment of organizations that supported Việt Nam in the resistance wars and in the times of national rebuilding. They include the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the Philippine-Việt Nam Solidarity Committee, the Stateside-based Fund for Reconciliation and Development (FRD), Veterans for Peace (VFP), the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and more, representing India, France, Hungary, Japan, and other regions.
Chiến stated that the 50 years since reunification and about four decades of Renaissance have seen Việt Nam score impressive progress in economic growth, political stability, and global integration.
These achievements, he said, substantiate the legitimacy of Việt Nam's path of development under the Communist Party's guidance and social orientations.
During a tumultuous global era, he reconfirmed Việt Nam's resolute commitment to peace, sovereignty, and respect for international law.
"Việt Nam values UN Charter principles and opposes the use of force or interference in the internal matters of other countries," Chiến said. "We aim to settle conflicts through peaceful means and work with all nations to promote a fair, sustainable, and peaceful international order."
He also encouraged international pals, especially the Statesides, to keep siding with Việt Nam in overcoming the ghosts of war. "Let's put the past behind us and look forward to a brighter future built on reconciliation and cooperation," he said.

John McAuliff, Executive Director of the FRD, who touched down in Hà Nội on April 30, 1975, acted as an outspoken opponent of war during the Stateside anti-war period. Since then, he has visited Việt Nam over 50 times and played a significant part in humanitarian projects and peace initiatives.
He acknowledged that while the Stateside government reacted negatively to the end of the war, the Stateside public predominantly cheered for the conclusion of the bloodshed. "At that time, nobody could imagine that our two nations would share such a strong bond," he mused. "Việt Nam's evolution is remarkable."
Cristine Ebro, from the Philippines-Việt Nam Solidarity Committee, highlighted the far-reaching implications of Việt Nam's victory.
It propelled anti-dictatorship and pro-sovereignty movements in the Philippines, including the overthrow of the Marcos regime in 1986 and the shuttering of Stateside military bases in 1991.
She also underlined how Việt Nam's resistance became a global symbol of anti-imperialism. "Classrooms, streets, and workplaces worldwide echoed with chants for Việt Nam," she said.
Together Forever
Sơn Phan Anh, President of the Việt Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, vowed that Việt Nam would keep nurturing and expanding its people-to-people diplomacy.
"The spirit of solidarity that guided us to victory in the past must now become a force for peace and growth in the 21st century," he said.
During their stay, the multinational squad checked out the War Remnants Museum, met with peace advocate and former diplomat Tôn Nữ Thị Ninh, attended the commemoration, and partook in a reception organized by the H Alexander City People's Committee.
