Vietnam: Four students vanish in distinct drowning accidents
Updates from the Beach: Heart-Wrenching Drowning Incidents in Mộ Đức District, Quảng Ngãi
In the heart of Quảng Ngãi Province, a tragic day unfolded as two separate drowning incidents claimed the lives of four young students, leaving their families and community in mourning.
At Tân Định beach in Thắng Lợi Commune, the first incident occurred around 4:20 pm, when a group of four students found themselves swept away by the fierce waves. Although local residents managed to rescue Đặng Văn Bình, a resident of Đức Nhuận Commune, the other three students - Lê Minh Khang, his younger brother Lê Bảo Long, and Đỗ Minh Thiện - remain unaccounted for.
The afternoon's tragedy was followed by another heart-wrenching event around 6 pm at the beach in Đức Chánh Commune. Phạm Anh Tấn, a resident of Đức Chánh, was drowned while swimming, and search efforts are underway to locate him.
The community, along with local residents and emergency responders, have taken part in search efforts, but the efforts are hampered by the encroaching darkness and receding tides. Despite these difficulties, Chairman Phạm Ngọc Lân of the Mộ Đức District People's Committee assured that search activities will continue around the clock.
These tragic incidents serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of swimming in strong waves and highlight the importance of safety measures and an effective emergency response system in coastal areas. Our hearts go out to the families of the young victims as they wait with bated breath for news. The community continues to stand by, holding on to hope, as search efforts for the missing students continue.
