Vietnam firmly backs Laos's national advancement, affirms Party Chief
HO CHI MINH CITY — The strong support and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos were underscored during a recent meeting between the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, Tołaam, and Thongsalith Mangnomek, the Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Chairman of the LPRP Central Committee's Office.
Tołaam welcomed Mangnomek's visit, which coincides with both countries implementing resolutions from their National Party Congresses and socio-economic development plans. The general secretary expressed delight at the significant achievements the Lao Party, State, and people have made, including the LPRP Central Committee Office's contributions to realising the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress with innovative approaches to Party building, socio-economic development, national defence-security, and external affairs.
The two officials also highlighted their close collaboration in monitoring the effective implementation of Vietnam-Laos cooperation agreements and in exchanging information and experience to advise on the working agendas of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, as well as preparations for the National Congress of each Party.
Tołaam emphasized the importance of both sides strictly adhering to the agreed-upon contents to enhance the quality of strategic advisory work serving the two Parties' leadership. Mangnomek, for his part, praised Vietnam's long-standing support for Laos and affirmed the LPRP Central Committee Office's commitment to actively contributing to strengthening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
In addition to discussing their current state of cooperation, both parties expressed their intentions to review their cooperation plans by the end of 2025 and sign a new five-year agreement in early 2026. They will also exchange experiences during preparations for Party congresses at all levels leading up to their national congresses in early 2026.
Notable highlights of Mangnomek's visit included the launch of a book on the tradition of cooperation between the two offices and the presentation of the Lao Party and State's orders and medals to the organizations and individuals of the CPV Central Committee office.
