Hungary hosted a memorable event on February 3, 2025, in honour of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between it and Việt Nam, and the 50th anniversary of the southeast Asian country's national reunification. This gathering serves as a testament to the strong and growing bond between the two nations.

The festivities took place at the iconic Pesti Vigadó, situated on the picturesque banks of the Danube, where the vibrant energy and patriotic spirit of both countries sparkled. The ambiance was filled with pride as the communities celebrated their shared history and galvanized their ambitions for the future.

Việt Nam’s Ambassador to Hungary, Bùi Lê Thái, emphasized that the 75-year partnership between the nations has been a symbol of unity and cooperation. Thái expressed his gratitude to the Hungarian Government and people for their support during the years of national liberation and reunification, as well as during Việt Nam’s ongoing process of growth and development.

Remembering the 1975 Spring Victory, Thái spoke about how this monumental achievement in Việt Nam's history also stood tall as a shining symbol of revolutionary spirit, independence, and unity, embodying the truth that freedom and independence is priceless.

Today's Việt Nam, with its vibrant, determined citizens, steps into a new era of expansion, rooted in confidence, resilience, and pride. This progress is backed by a solid foundation of friendship and cooperation, giving both countries ample opportunities to write a fresh chapter in their bilateral relationship.

The Hungarian Government, represented by First Deputy Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly Márta Mátrai, shared her belief that the bond between the two nations is a precious asset that must be nurtured. She praised Việt Nam's remarkable strides since 1975 and expressed pride in Hungary's role in supporting Việt Nam during its national liberation and reunification, including through its participation in the supervision process.

The celebration showcased the rich culture of both countries. More than 500 guests immersed themselves in artistic performances, traditional Việt Namese cuisine, and exhibitions and films chronicling their 75-year friendship and Việt Nam's post-reunification development.

This event has left a lasting impression on everyone present, further fuelling efforts by both nations to continue creating beautiful and prosperous memories together in the years to come.
