Vietnam and China strengthen cooperation at forefront
Beijing was abuzz this week as Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front (VFF), Nguyễn Thị Thu Hải, paid a visit to the Chinese capital. This meeting with Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), marked a significant step towards deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, Hải congratulated China on its recent successes, including the smooth organization of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and the CPPCC, as well as China's remarkable achievements in reform over the past four decades and the new era under the leadership of Xi Jinping.
Vietnam values the relationship with China as a top priority in its foreign policy, Hải affirmed, expressing support for a strong and active China that champions peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world. She also expressed gratitude for the continued support from the Chinese Party, State, and people throughout Vietnam's struggles for independence and development.
Hanna Highlights the Exchange in Guangxi, emphasizing that it served as a concrete step towards implementing the common perceptions reached by the two nations' top leaders and marked a new milestone in their relationship. Hải also stressed the vital role of the VFF and the CPPCC in the political and social life of each country, particularly in unifying the people and mobilizing resources for national development.
Hải proposed several recommendations to strengthen cooperation between the two front agencies, such as enhancing mutual understanding and political trust, exchanging information and experiences, and promoting people-to-people exchanges. She also suggested intensifying efforts to popularize each country's development achievements and the Vietnam-China friendship to solidify a favorable social foundation for the further growth of bilateral relations.
Wang, in turn, underscored the outcomes of Xi's recent state visit to Vietnam and expressed a willingness to expand exchanges, friendship, and cooperation with the VFF, particularly in delegation exchanges and people-to-people interactions.
Looking ahead, the partnership between Vietnam and China aims to balance economic integration with strategic alignment, addressing both bilateral priorities and global economic tensions[2][4]. The two nations plan to accelerate work on public welfare projects, activate specialized working groups for e-commerce and trade facilitation, expand agricultural exports, implement a hotline for maritime emergencies, and finalize a fishery agreement for the Gulf of Tonkin, among other collaborative efforts[2].
