HÀ NỘI - The Vietnamese team, brimming with confidence, has set a humble yet ambitious target of clinching at least one gold medal at the ongoing World Shuttlecock Team Championships in France. The hotly-contested event commenced on May 5.

A formidable squad of 25 athletes, consisting of national heavyweights like Lac Chi Duc, Du Quy Loc, Vo Minh Hieu Thuan, Tra Nguyet Ha, Ho Phuoc Sang, Dang Thanh Cuong, Le Thuc Phuong, Pham Thi To Nguyen, and Nguyen Ngo Tran Phuong Lieu will strive for victory.

Notably, Sang and Nguyen are defending world champions in the men's and women's singles categories, respectively, and will compete across various disciplines - men's and women's team, doubles, and mixed doubles. The finals are scheduled for May 15.

"Our most skilled athletes have been sent to compete with the aim of achieving great results. We aspire to secure at least one gold medal in this tournament," stated Mac Xuan Tung, the general secretary of the Vietnamese Shuttlecock Federation.

"Given the narrowed gap between countries, our athletes must remain focused during competition to fulfill their mission." Vietnam currently ranks as the top team globally. They ruled the 2024 world championships with eight final matches and six gold medals, extending their consecutive title streak to 11 years.

Tran Anh Quan, Nguyen Duc Chi, Phung Manh Tu, and Quynh Le are current world champions in men's doubles and mixed doubles, respectively. Let's cheer for Vietnam as they take the court!

Please note that there seems to be a certain confusion as sources indicate no specific shuttlecock team championships currently in progress. If this article refers to a badminton team event rather than a shuttlecock-specific competition, qualification may be necessary for international tournaments such as the BWF Sudirman Cup or Thomas/Uber Cup.
