Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur during the latter's official visit to Malaysia and the 46th ASEAN Summit.

During their discussion, PM Chinh extended warm greetings from Vietnam's Party General Secretary, State President, National Assembly Chairman, and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat to Chinese President Xi Jinping and other high-ranking leaders. He acknowledged Xi's recent state visit to Vietnam as a historical milestone that forged a long-term strategic path for bilateral ties.

Emphasizing the significance of their first meeting since Xi's visit, PM Chinh expressed Vietnam's readiness to collaborate closely with China and maintain regular communication with the State Council and Premier Li. He proposed accelerating the realization of the common perceptions reached by the top leaders, as well as increasing high-level strategic exchanges, strengthening economic, trade, and investment collaboration, and expanding scientific-technological and innovative relationships as new engines for bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of prioritizing railway cooperation, reaffirming Vietnam's commitment to beginning construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Haiphong railway line this year and seeking Chinese support through preferential credit, technology transfer, and human resources development.

Premier Li reciprocated greetings from Xi to Vietnam's high-ranking leaders and expressed appreciation for the warm reception during Xi's visit. He agreed with PM Chinh's proposed priorities, affirming China's determination and readiness to collaborate closely with Vietnam's government to fulfill the shared visions of the top leaders, increase high-level strategic exchanges, bolster political trust, and advance practical cooperation, particularly in trade, quality investment, and railway connectivity.
