Vienna’s holiday spending hits €2.35 billion as online shopping surges

Christmas shopping in Vienna is set to reach €2.35 billion this year. The figure marks a small rise from €2.33 billion in 2022. More shoppers are turning to online retailers, with international platforms gaining ground in the stock market today.

Online gift purchases are expected to climb to €480 million, up from €460 million last year. Over half of this spending will go to international retailers. Meanwhile, in-store sales should hold steady at €1.87 billion.

Total holiday spending in Vienna will edge slightly higher this year. Online platforms, particularly international ones, are capturing a larger share of the stock market today. However, physical stores remain a key destination for festive shoppers.
