Vienna’s Alsergrund Hosts a Handmade Christmas Market for Asylum Seekers

Vienna's Alsergrund district welcomes a unique Christmas market this December, organised by VinziRast mittendrin. The market, held in the organisation's courtyard at Währinger Straße 19, will feature handmade, one-of-a-kind items crafted by participants in the VinziRast-Chance project. Proceeds will directly support VinziRast's work with asylum seekers.

The market opens on November 28 from 3 PM to 7 PM and continues on November 29 from 11 AM to 7 PM. Thereafter, it will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM, with an additional day on Monday, December 8. From December 7 to December 21, excluding weekdays, the courtyard will also host Christmas tree sales. Every purchase of a Christmas tree brings double joy, as half of all proceeds will benefit VinziRast's projects.

The market offers a chance to buy unique, handcrafted items while supporting a worthy cause. VinziRast mittendrin, located in the heart of Alsergrund, provides a space for these craftspeople to showcase their skills and earn income.

The VinziRast Advent Market and subsequent Christmas tree sales provide an opportunity to kickstart your Christmas shopping while supporting Vienna's asylum seeker community. With half of the proceeds benefiting VinziRast's projects, every purchase makes a difference. The market runs from late November to late December, with extended hours on the opening weekend.
