Victory in the Stonehenge Stakes propels Morris Dancer toward a potential run in the Too Darn Hot race.
Morris Dancer Wins Listed Stonehenge Stakes
Morris Dancer, a two-year-old racehorse owned by Godolphin and trained by John & Thady Gosden, has made a significant mark in the racing world with his recent victory at the British Stallion Studs EBF Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury on August 13, 2025.
Trained by John & Thady Gosden, Morris Dancer, a son of Palace Pier, led home a one-two finish for his sire, marking Palace Pier’s first stakes winner. Morris Dancer finished strongly, winning by four lengths over A Bit Of Spirit, after previously placing second in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood in July 2025.
The horse's pedigree is as distinguished as his performance, with Morris Dancer being by Palace Pier out of Menuetto (by Dubawi). This connection to Sadler’s Wells and Urban Sea through his dam's side adds to his lineage.
John Hobby, the owner-breeder of Five Ways, expressed his surprise at Five Ways' impressive win in a separate race. Hobby stated that he is delighted with Five Ways' performance and hopes he's a nice horse.
As for Morris Dancer's future races, no specific upcoming engagements have been confirmed or announced. However, jockey William Buick commented post-Stonehenge Stakes that Morris Dancer can handle both seven furlongs and a mile and does not mind softer ground, suggesting flexibility in potential race distances.
In another race, Five Ways, a horse trained by Andrew Balding, won the 6f novice stakes by five lengths under jockey Jason Watson. Five Ways' victory suggests that he might be able to stay further distances.
Meanwhile, Morris Dancer's stablemate, Miss Justice, held off Revoir at the finish to win the Upavon Fillies' Stakes by a neck. Thady Gosden, joint-trainer of Morris Dancer, believes the horse can take another step forward. Thady Gosden and William Buick also won the 1m2f Upavon Fillies' Stakes with Miss Justice.
The ground conditions were suitable for Morris Dancer's race at the Stonehenge Stakes. Morris Dancer is not the tallest horse but has plenty of strength, a trait that served him well in his impressive victory.
