Victory in Nations League Group for German Women's Team over Netherlands
Germany's Women's Football Team Secures Nations League Victory, Advances to Finals
The German Football Association (DFB) women's team put on a captivating display at the Weser Stadium on Tuesday night, triumphing over the Netherlands with a convincing 4-0 scoreline. The victory strengthened Germany's position as a top contender for the UEFA Women's Nations League title.
Goals from Linda Dallmann, Lea Schüller (twice), and Sarai Linder ensured a comfortable lead for Germany, who solidified their spot in the Nations League's Final Four. In the post-match interview with ARD, head coach Sarina Wiegman expressed satisfaction with her team's performance, stating, "We played a very good game, in all areas."
Double-goal scorer Schüller echoed Wiegman's sentiments, expressing pride in their home victory. The team, currently in formidable form, has secured four consecutive victories—most recently a 4-0 drubbing of Scotland earlier in March.
Germany dominated the match from the beginning, launching attack after attack on the "Oranje" defense. Jule Brand was particularly instrumental on the right side of the pitch, setting up Schüller's second goal with a precise pass to the far post.
Schüller opened the scoring in the 9th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Janina Minge to find the top corner with a clinical right-footed shot. Dallmann further extended the lead just before halftime, converting a cross from Minge for a 2-0 advantage. Linder added another goal in the 45th minute, ensuring a commanding 3-0 lead for Germany prior to the break.
Adding to their dominance, Schüller scored a dream goal four minutes into the second half to make it 4-0. Giulia Gwinn was the architect of the goal, setting up Schüller with a precise cross after Dallmann had heel-flicked a pass to her.
Despite their comfortable lead, Germany continued to press, demonstrating both focused defensive work and calculated attacking football. The Dutch, who had held Germany to a 2-2 draw in their home fixture, struggled to find their rhythm in the offensive half.
The Wueck team remains focused on further fine-tuning their form ahead of the UEFA Women's European Championship (Euro 2025) in July. Germany has secured a spot in the semifinals or finals of the Nations League, with subsequent matches consisting of preparations for Euro 2025 or Nations League finals, scheduled to take place after the competition concludes.
