Schubert Motorsport Secures Double Win at Nürburgring, René Rast Back in DTM Title Race
After a thrilling weekend at the Nürburgring, the 2025 DTM season has taken an exciting turn. Schubert Motorsport achieved a double win in the second race of the weekend, with René Rast dominating from 7th on the grid and Marco Wittmann finishing second.
In the first race, Jack Aitken clinched the victory, but the championship lead changed hands in the second race. Lucas Auer regained the lead by finishing third, while Rast moved back into the title race, now fourth in the overall standings with 117 points, 20 points behind the leader.
Schubert Motorsport's success has propelled them to second place in the team standings with 213 points, maintaining a 12-point gap from Manthey Racing, who lead the championship.
René Rast, who has had issues at the Sachsenring track in the past, is optimistic about the upcoming races. He expressed his satisfaction with his performance at the Nürburgring, stating, "I'm really happy with the weekend. The car was fantastic, and we managed to turn things around after a difficult start."
Marco Wittmann, who finished second in both races, was also pleased with his performance. He commented, "I'm really happy with my results this weekend. It's a great feeling to be back on the podium."
The BMW M4 GT3 EVO was a force to be reckoned with at the Nürburgring, with Schubert Motorsport, FK Performance Motorsport, and ME Motorsport all securing podium finishes in the ADAC GT4 Germany races. Gabriele Piana and BMW M Racing Academy member Berkay Besler won the first season win in the ADAC GT4 Germany for the BMW M4 GT4 EVO, while Thomas Rackl and Linus Hahne confirmed their top form with a fourth-place finish in another race.
Tim Reiter and Phillip Wiskirchen also finished third in an ADAC GT4 Germany race, driving the BMW M4 GT4 EVO for the ME Motorsport team.
Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "We're really pleased with the results this weekend. The team has worked hard, and it's great to see their efforts pay off."
The next two sprint races will be held at the Sachsenring from August 22 to 24, 2025. The DTM championship standings will undoubtedly be shaken up once again, as the drivers and teams prepare for the challenges that the Sachsenring track presents.
Other teams may find it difficult to catch up in the DTM championship, as Schubert Motorsport's dominance in racing continues, especially with René Rast's impressive performance. With the championship standings being shuffled once again, it's clear that other sports, such as racing, will remain an exhilarating spectacle.
