Ryan Fox's Second PGA Tour Win: A Thrilling Playoff Victory

In a nail-biting finish at the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, 38-year-old Ryan Fox claimed his second PGA Tour title in four weeks. Battling it out with Ryder Cup star Sam Burns over four playoff holes, Fox emerged victorious with a stunning birdie.

With a four-under par final round 66, Fox and Matteo Manassero shared the lead going into the final day, both searching for victory at TPC Toronto. However, it was Shane Lowry who initially made significant strides, beginning the round five-under par through his first four holes.

Although Lowry started strongly, his title charge waned, and it was Burns who took control, racking up six birdies over the back nine for an impressive eight-under 62. This set the clubhouse target at 18-under, a mark that proved challenging for many competitors.

Fox, undeterred, birdied the 72nd hole to match Burns and force a playoff. The duo played the first two playoff holes without incident, but at the third, a change in pin position added a new twist. Fox, with a stunning fairway wood, landed his ball around 12-feet from the flag, while Burns found himself further away.

In the fourth playoff hole, Fox solidified his lead with a clinching birdie, leaving Burns unable to convert a putt coming back. The victory marked Fox's second PGA Tour title in under a month.

"This was a hard-fought win," Fox said, looking back on the intense competition. "I was lucky to make that putt in regulation. It was heading left, but just managed to sneak in. I didn't hit many good shots in the playoff, but that shot at the 18th, the fourth time, is probably the best shot I've ever hit in my life."

With this win, Fox will tee it up at the upcoming US Open at Oakmont, ready to continue his impressive form.

The event, held at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley for the first time, attracted several prominent golfers, including Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Corey Conners, Ludvig Åberg, Justin Rose, and Max Homa[1][2]. Their presence added to the competitive depth of the tournament, making Fox's victory all the more impressive.
