Victory at the Dart Tournament Held by the Deaf Sports Association Pforzheim

The city of Pforzheim, along with various supporters, played host to the 17th German Darts Championship for the Hearing Impaired on September 30 and October 1, 2023. The event, organised by the Pforzheim Hearing Impaired Sports Club e.V., brought together 98 players from 18 German clubs.

Markus Bethke, Chairman of the Pforzheim Hearing Impaired Sports Club, and Hannah Junker, Vice-Chair, expressed their pleasure with the event's success and extended their gratitude for the club's support and help. Bethke also secured third place in the singles championship, showcasing the club's strong representation.

In the women's doubles darts, Ina Cirak and Cecile Pape from the Pforzheim Hearing Impaired Sports Club emerged victorious, taking home the first-place trophy.

The competition opening was conducted by Anne Marie Rouvière-Petruzzi, the commissioner for the affairs of people with disabilities at the Enz district administration, and Mohamed Zakzak, the inclusion commissioner of the city of Pforzheim. Zakzak was satisfied with Pforzheim's role as a host, stating, "Pforzheim was a good host."

Rouvière-Petruzzi emphasised the importance of sport in promoting inclusion, stating that through sports, fears and barriers can be overcome, fostering respectful interaction and new friendships. She also highlighted that the joy of sports and shared experiences connect those who play together.

The competitions were held in various categories, including women's and men's singles and doubles, as well as seniors. The event was a source of camaraderie among the athletes, fostering a shared passion for darts.

A big thank you was extended to all the donors who supported the event. The city of Pforzheim and others contributed to making this competition a success. The 17th German Darts Championship for the Hearing Impaired in Pforzheim was a testament to the power of sport in bringing people together and promoting inclusion.
