Vibrant exploration of Jonathan Anderson's tenure at Loewe through striking visuals is showcased in the latest publication
In a significant move, Spanish fashion house Loewe has released a large-format publication titled "Crafted World: Jonathan Anderson's Loewe" to celebrate Jonathan Anderson's 11-year tenure as the creative director. This book serves as a comprehensive examination of Anderson's transformative approach to craftsmanship, design, and cultural engagement within the brand.
The book spans a decade of Anderson's work at Loewe, from his debut S/S 2015 women's show to his recent S/S 2025 menswear show. Notable aspects featured in the book include collaborations with various disciplines, such as the one with biologist Chris Bellamy, and cultural initiatives like the Loewe FOUNDATION Craft Prize, initiated by Anderson in 2016.
The book collates photography and ephemera from both Anderson's runway shows and his various cultural initiatives and collaborations. It contextualizes Anderson’s tenure within Loewe’s broader cultural and art-driven projects, reflecting the brand's deep engagement with the arts.
One of Anderson's closest creative confidantes is artist Anthea Hamilton. Hamilton's giant pumpkins populated the set for Anderson's A/W 2022 womenswear show, and she also participated in Loewe's projects at Milan Design Week, creating a kimono-inspired lamp for the 2024 edition. The cover of the book features one of Hamilton's pumpkins.
'Crafted World: Jonathan Anderson's Loewe' will be available for pre-order tomorrow (21 March 2025) and will have a wider release on 27 March 2025. Each copy of the book will come in a custom box featuring the Loewe monogram in copper on each corner.
Sadly, Anderson announced that he is leaving his role as Loewe's creative director, with his A/W 2025 collection being his last. However, the annual Craft Prize, which Anderson considers his 'proudest achievement' at the house, is included in the book. This prize has been influential in promoting contemporary craft and supporting artisans worldwide.
The book, published by Loewe, spans 636 pages and includes a foreword by Zadie Smith, a conversation between Anderson and Benjamin Bruno, and interviews with Loewe 'friends and family'. It coincides with Loewe celebrating Anderson’s decade with the house, marking this milestone with the book as well as other cultural projects, including podcasts exploring culture and lifestyle, which Loewe launched in China as part of expanding its cultural outreach.
The last edition of the Craft Prize was held in Paris last summer. The book, 'Loewe Crafted World', an exhibition that opened last May 2025 in Shanghai, serves as a reference for the book's title. The book will be available from loewe.com and selected international retailers.
