Vibrant Artistic Showcase Kicks Off: Biosk Launches Festive Celebrations for May 9, Featuring 560 Artists and Decorations
Celebrating Resilience: Jubilee Stadium Hosts Massive Victory Day Performance
The Victory Day celebration at Biysk's Jubilee Stadium, starting today, May 8, promises to be an unforgettable spectacle, as 560 artists come together to remember the struggles of the war, engage the youth, and pay homage to local heroes.
Olga Babayeva, the artistic director of the "Kukly-Velikany" theater, spearheading the theatrical program "Victory: We Remember, We're Proud," emphasizes the need to involve the younger generation. "We've amassed numerous collectives, learning and singing together!" she said.
The choir lineup includes several groups: two adult and two children's, singing a diverse repertoire from "Slavic Sky" to "The Soldier Went." Through their active participation in the program, the children have deepened their understanding of the war's impact on people, especially during dire times.
Olga Ivanovna, the director, stresses, "It's crucial that children get a feel of the war's impact. It's one thing to learn historical facts, but it's another to experience the emotions of those who lived through it." The audience couldn't hide their emotions, with many shedding tears during the performances.
The celebration program transcends time, taking the theatergoers through peaceful pre-war life, the turbulent years of the Great Patriotic War, and the heartwarming victory. Each performance culminates with a nod to Biysk, highlighting city achievements during the war. Four local heroes' stories were recounted, with audience members contributing their personal archive photos for authentic decorations.
Olga Ivanovna explains, "The residents of Biysk have provided us with invaluable information. I've read and studied numerous works, incorporating quotes and local texts into the program, like those from Prubytkov's book."
Organizing such a massive event in the challenging Jubilee stadium posed numerous hurdles. The site's convenience came with the restriction of not being able to drive or bore anything into the ground. The unpredictable wind also added complexity. However, exclusively designed decorations, such as the wooden stage and "hedgehogs," made the seemingly impossible, possible. After the event, these decorations will grace the City Palace of Culture's facade as a token of gratitude.
For the ones who cannot attend the event in person, "BR" will publish a comprehensive photo report today. Celebrating Victory Day goes beyond a day off; it's a powerful reminder of the Russian people's resilience and their collective pride in overcoming adversity.
