VfB Stuttgart leaves Nick Woltemade in a displeased state

In a surprising turn of events, it seems that the transfer saga surrounding Nick Woltemade, the promising young footballer currently at VfB Stuttgart, is coming to an end for the 2025 season.

Despite Woltemade's expressed desire to join FC Bayern Munich and three mega-offers from the Bavarian giants, Stuttgart has refused to negotiate further. The breakdown in negotiations appears to stem from a disagreement over Woltemade's valuation.

Initially, Stuttgart seemed open to accepting a fee in excess of €60 million, an offer Bayern was prepared to make. However, Stuttgart later increased their demand to around €75 million, a figure Bayern did not meet by the deadline set by Stuttgart, the date of the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup match. Consequently, Stuttgart halted talks and decided to keep Woltemade.

VfB Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle has made it clear that the transfer saga is closed for now. Woltemade will play for Stuttgart in the current season, as the Bundesliga season is set to kick off on August 22, and the transfer window is open until September 1.

While Bayern's interest in Woltemade remains, expectations are that a move to the Munich club could occur in 2026, delaying an immediate transfer. Woltemade's agent, Danny Bachmann, has described the potential move to Bayern as an "enormous opportunity," but for now, Woltemade will continue to wear the Stuttgart colours.

Meanwhile, Woltemade's relationship with the Stuttgart team and coach Sebastian Hoeneß remains good, and he is expected to play for Stuttgart in the Supercup game against Bayern on Saturday evening (20:30 CET).
