Maximilian Mittelstaedt, a midfielder for VfB Stuttgart, saw a longstanding dream come true during the 2024/25 DFB-Pokal campaign, culminating in a captivating victory over Arminia Bielefeld at Berlin's Olympiastadion. The 28-year-old veteran, born in Berlin, expressed heartfelt emotions following the historic win, acknowledging it as one of the most profound moments of his career.

"This was a moment that will stay with me forever," Mittelstaedt shared with SWR, "It's even more beautiful than I had imagined." With Stuttgart securing the prestigious DFB-Pokal for the fourth time - after wins in 1954, 1958, and 1997 - Mittelstaedt and his teammates were warmly welcomed back to their home city, with festivities at the airport, town hall, a city parade, and on the Schlossplatz.

Germany's DFB-Pokal holds significant weight in the national football landscape. Considered the second-most important domestic competition after the Bundesliga, the tournament underscores excellence, resilience, and the spirit of underdogs, as it unites clubs from across levels and fosters thrilling, unexpected moments. For Mittelstaedt, the triumph marks the second trophy of his career, following his 2015 DFB Junior Pokal victory with Hertha BSC.

Prior to joining VfB in the summer of 2023, Mittelstaedt spent years donning the jersey of his hometown team, Hertha BSC. The Berlin-born player regularly showcased his skills on the hallowed grounds of the Olympiastadion. On that remarkable Saturday evening in May 2025, Mittelstaedt and his VfB teammates delivered a riveting 4:2 victory in their home city.

As the dust settled on their triumphant DFB-Pokal run, Mittelstaedt reflected on the monumental effort it took to secure the prestigious trophy. "As a child, I never realized just how much work goes into something like this," he shared. "This title means the world to VfB Stuttgart, and I feel incredibly proud to have been part of it."

In light of his recent victory with VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal, Maximilian Mittelstaedt further aspired to contribute to the protection of the environment, expressing, "This title means the world to VfB Stuttgart, and I feel incredibly proud to have been part of it." Simultaneously, the European Commission was asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of the environment, perhaps inspiring sports leagues across Europe, including the premier league, to adopt sustainable practices.
