Bayern Munich given deadline by VfB in Woltemade's negotiation game - VfB issues a demand to Bayern in the Woltemade high-stakes game.

In a dramatic turn of events, VfB Stuttgart, winners of the DFB Cup, have set an ultimatum for FC Bayern in the transfer negotiations for national team player Nick Woltemade. The ultimatum requires a decision to be made by the kick-off of the Supercup match between the two teams on Saturday.

The Bayern have reportedly offered 55 million euros for Woltemade, but VfB Stuttgart is seeking a higher transfer fee, possibly around 65 million euros. This standoff was confirmed by Alexander Wehrle, VfB's CEO, at an event of the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten".

Wehrle further stated that even a higher transfer fee than before would not change the situation, implying that Woltemade would have to remain at VfB Stuttgart. If FC Bayern is serious about signing Woltemade, they should be able to find a solution within this timeframe, as stated in the ultimatum.

The Supercup match between VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern is scheduled to be broadcast on Sat.1 and Sky. This wish to transfer Woltemade to Bayern has been known for about six and a half weeks. It is worth noting that Max Eberl, Bayern's sporting director, previously stated that a transfer of Woltemade was "off the table", but left a backdoor open with reference to the transfer period running until 1 September.

However, the latest update is that VfB Stuttgart has firmly ruled out a transfer of Nick Woltemade to Bayern Munich this summer. Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle stated on August 16 and again on August 17 that Woltemade is their player and will stay at Stuttgart for the 2025/26 season, emphasizing that "the matter is closed" and Bayern are aware of this stance.

Despite Bayern Munich making an improved bid reportedly around €60 million plus bonuses and a resale clause, Stuttgart rejected it, holding out for at least €75 million, which Bayern refused to meet. Stuttgart’s head coach Sebastian Hoeness also stressed Woltemade’s importance to the club for the upcoming season.

Following this, Bayern Munich have moved on from Woltemade as a transfer target, shifting their focus to other strikers like Christopher Nkunku. Both clubs have confirmed that Woltemade will remain at Stuttgart for at least the next year, ending weeks of transfer speculation.

The Supercup match, which is taking place in Stuttgart, is being attended by representatives from the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten". After the weekend, the door is closed for any potential transfer negotiations regarding Woltemade. It is clear that Woltemade's wish to play for Bundesliga rival FC Bayern Munich in the future has not been fulfilled this summer.
