In an exciting development for Bond fans, Pierce Brosnan's wife Keely Shaye Smith has hinted at the anticipation surrounding the next James Bond movie. The film, set to be a spectacle of delight, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for his visually stunning films.

Brosnan, who played Bond in four movies, has shown a willingness to return to the role, albeit in a more unconventional manner. With a touch of humour, he suggested the use of bald caps and prosthetics to adapt to the age difference. However, he has emphasised that he is open to the idea only if the creative vision fits.

At 72 years old, Brosnan acknowledged that a craggy, 72-year-old Bond might not appeal to everyone. This suggests that, if cast, his Bond would likely be significantly older than the usual portrayal of the character.

Steven Knight is penning the script for the upcoming movie, and there are rumours that Amazon is considering casting an actor in his late 20s for the role. This could indicate a shift in the traditional Bond narrative, with Brosnan potentially stepping back into a similar role, possibly with a more comedic flavour.

Amazon, eager to get its big-ticket IP back into theatres, is reportedly considering a range of great candidates for the next James Bond. The future of other major franchises, such as Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Universe on film and TV, and Doctor Who, remains uncertain.

Regardless of who takes on the role, the new James Bond movie promises to be a spectacle of delight, continuing the legacy of one of cinema's most iconic characters.
