Max Verstappen edged out Lando Norris by a minuscule margin, snatching pole position during qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix. Kimi Antonelli, the whiz kid from Mercedes, once again shone, slotting into third place on the grid.

Lewis Hamilton faced another setback in his inaugural season with Ferrari, getting booted out in Q2. Sitting 12th on the starting grid, the seven-time world champion isn't exactly where he'd like to be.

Verstappen's daring tactic in the initial sector of his lap reaped rewards, potentially setting up the Dutchman for his third win in Miami over the past four years.

"What a cracking qualifying! We managed to tweak the car a tad more. Each session saw improvement, trying to push the boundaries. It paid off. I'm thrilled to have earned pole," celebrated Verstappen.

"Racing pace, I'm unsure, depending on the weather conditions. Generally, the colder, the better. No one's done much long running given the sprint race here," he added.

On a personal note, Verstappen welcomed his first child with girlfriend Kelly Piquet – a beautiful daughter named Lily – earlier this week. This development has sparked talk amongst pundits that he might slow down, citing the common idea among some racing enthusiasts that drivers can lose their edge after becoming parents.

However, Verstappen isn't too keen on such speculation. "I tune out the noise regarding silly assumptions. There have been numerous racing pros who've claimed world titles even after having kids. Honestly, I don't comprehend where that comes from," he expressed.

Norris, who'd triumphed in the sprint race earlier in the day, missing out on pole was a disappointment but he was content with his performance. "Happy with today's progress, pleased with my improvements with the car and myself. Max once again pulled off a stellar lap, and there's no argument there. I've missed the mark once again, but pace-wise, I'm good," said Norris who will be aiming for a repeat of his victory last year, regardless of whether it's dry or wet conditions.

Antonelli, who set a record as the youngest driver to claim pole in any F1 race, demonstrated agility and potential once more. Although he couldn't capitalize in the sprint, securing 7th place, the youngster appears confident.

"The weekend's going well so far. Disappointing this morning, but I've bounced back. Struggled a bit in qualifiers, didn't manage a spotless lap like yesterday. It's all about pulling everything together, and so far, I've been doing just that," stated Antonelli.

Charles Leclerc, representing Ferrari, ended the qualifiers in an uninspiring 8th place, never really competing for the top spots. His disappointment was palpable. "The feeling isn't great. But such is life. It's only frustrating because you give it your best, and the best is P8, especially with a Ferrari. It hurts, and we've got two Williams cars in front of us. I had no errors... we're just not quick enough," he expressed.

Worries for Ferrari mounted as Hamilton missed the cut for the final qualifying session. "We'll keep putting in the effort. It's early days – only six races in. We're grappling with challenges. We're trying our best not to implement drastic setup changes, but our performance remains inconsistent every time we hit the track," lamented Hamilton.
