Max Verstappen, the 26-year-old Dutch dynasty in Formula 1, snatched yet another victory in the final sprint race of the year. Starting from second on the grid in São Paulo, he outpaced pole-sitter Lando Norris of McLaren. Norris had to yield position to Verstappen right after the race kickoff.
This was Verstappen's fourth triumph in the season's six sprint races. Red Bull team chief Christian Horner sounded triumphant over the radio, "Outstanding start to the event!" Verstappen looks to add luster to his Grand Prix record this Sunday (18:00/Sky), aiming to extend his record series with a 17th win of the year.
Sergio Pérez, Verstappen's Red Bull compatriot from Mexico, secured third place in the sprint finale, edging out George Russell in the Mercedes. Among regular German drivers in the Haas race car, Nico Hülkenberg had a less promising race, ending up 18th[1].
Although Verstappen had a stellar performance, it's important to note that he didn't bag any sprint race wins in the 2022 Formula 1 season. His previous victories in sprint races were spread out across various seasons, not specifically in 2022[1].
