Unstoppable Peer Kusmagk Celebrates 5 Decades: A Lifetime of Transformations
Hey there! Let's dive into the life of Peer Kusmagk, who turned 50. Best known for his stint on "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" and hosting "Sat.1-Frühstücksfernsehen", Peer is one adventure-seeking guy! With a family of three kiddos, he's still not one to stay put.
A Dynamic Duo with Ex-Wife on Morning Television
With endless curiosity, Peer tried roles in acting, television hosting, radio, owning a restaurant in Berlin, and even collaborating on a song! Alongside his then-wife, Charlotte Karlinder, they became a morning show powerhouse in 2004. As "mixing business with pleasure" proved tricky, the duo decided to host separately due to a "relationship hiccup", eventually parting ways in mid-2005.
Opening "La Raclette", a French restaurant in Berlin, didn't turn out smoothly either. A fire due to a cable short circuit in 2010 forced a renovation. Seven years later, Kusmagk said goodbye to this project, admitting it consumed his life. The emotional farewell came with the realization that "I can't be at every wedding. The restaurant was more than just a dream; it became a full-time job."
The restaurant chapter took a toll on Peer's health. He developmentally became an alcoholic. Regularly consuming up to three bottles of wine a day, he hit rock bottom. However, his stint on "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" in 2011, where he defended Sarah Knappik against bullying and won the crown, was life-changing. "This was the first time I realized my thoughts were always on alcohol when it wasn't available." He finally took a three-month rehab program in 2014.
From Surfing February to Family Man
Leaving the restaurant behind, Peer welcomed fatherhood. Meeting Janni Hönscheid on "Adam sucht Eva – Gestrandet im Paradies," he married her a year later, and their son Emil Ocean was born in August 2017, followed by daughter Yoko in July 2019, and son Merlin in September 2021.
Flexibility has always been a key aspect of Peer's life. Their family chased sunshine across Mallorca, where Peer became a life coach, before moving to Denmark in 2024. They spent a year renovating an old farmhouse there.
Saying Goodbye to the Danish Farmhouse
Almost done, the farmhouse is allowing the family to set sail once more. Janni Höhnscheid shared the pending sale on her Instagram account. She expressed that it was the best decision under the circumstances, which remain private as of now. "Life is change, and sometimes, you must make difficult decisions." The family's future destination remains unknown.
With Peer Kusmagk, it's never a dull moment—stay tuned for more exciting adventures!
