In the heart of Mecklenburg, Germany, a new theatrical production is set to make its debut. On September 27th at 7:30 PM, "The Night of the Leviathan" will premiere at the Kulturscheune of the Alte Kachelofenfabrik Neustrelitz, marking the start of an exciting journey for both the audience and the performers.

Directed by Tatjana Rese, this new play is a collaboration with author Gregor Edelmann. "The Night of the Leviathan" promises to be a thought-provoking piece, exploring attitudes, doubts about the resilience of democracy, and the threats it faces from hunger for power, lies, and manipulation.

The production will feature Helene Grass and Frank Metzger, two well-known local actors, on stage together for the first time. Grass, who previously appeared in the stage adaptation of "About People", will play a journalist, while Metzger, last seen in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", will portray a minister president. The duo will engage in an interview and debate about democracy and truth, providing a riveting narrative.

Suddenly, shots are fired outside, and they are cut off from the outside world, adding an element of suspense to the play.

Following its Neustrelitz debut, "The Night of the Leviathan" will be performed twice more in the town before moving to the Berlin cultural center Pfefferberg in January 2026. Tickets for the Berlin performances can be booked by calling 03981 203145.

Tatjana Rese, the theatre maker, has chosen Neustrelitz and a cultural barn for her premiere, opting for an independent production that will not be performed in a classic theater space. The production aims to create an authentic atmosphere for the supposed conference room, focusing on the psychological play of the two actors and the associative inserts of a television.

In addition to "The Night of the Leviathan", Tatjana Rese will also direct a new adaptation of Günter Grass' "The Tin Drum" at the Vorpommersche Landesbühne Anklam, and "Corpus delicti" by Juli Zeh at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater.

The premiere of "The Night of the Leviathan" on September 27 at 7:30 PM will serve as the culmination of an event series. This production, with its timely and relevant themes, is set to be a must-see for theatre enthusiasts. Don't miss out on this unique theatrical experience!
