120th Shooting Festival in Vennhausen: A Grand Tradition
The summer customs in Vennhausen kick off with the first shooting festival, marking a milestone of over a century of tradition. Since April 28, the shooting range and the festival tent on Höherhofstraße have been the heart of the event, attracting shooters, locals, and friendly shooting clubs.
This year, we're celebrating a jubilee: it's the 120th shooting festival in Vennhausen!
The festivities began with a lively party, followed by a field service on Saturday to select the new regimental majesties. The competition on the shooting range was fierce, with three contenders vying for the royal title. In the end, it was Ralph Sebetzky who emerged victorious, making his wife Martina queen. Both are deeply committed to the customs and are active in the carnival.
Before their formal coronation on Monday, the reigning majesties - Jens and Ulrike Blättermann – enjoyed their big day. The crowning ceremony took place on Monday evening, accompanied by a regimental coronation ball.
On Sunday, the procession started at the Freiheitplatz on Vennhauser Alle, followed by a bivouac. Led by shooting chief Herbert Koch and his daughter, Jens and Ulrike Blättermann marched along the rows of shooters before riding through the district in a white carriage to St. Reinold's Church on Gubener Straße. The parade was graced by the presence of numerous honorary guests.
The smooth running of the procession and the subsequent parade was overseen by Hans-Jürgen Esser, the new colonel in Vennhausen, and Christian Marks as major, marking their first appearances in these roles. The parade consisted of flags from all the musical societies, followed by the shooting societies in two battalions, culminating in a musical escort for the honorary guests to the festival tent.
Before the evening's 'Dance into May' party started with DJ Angelo Venucci, Roberta Lorenza, and Torsten Sander, there were some awards and honors bestowed. Want to support our website?
