Vengeful Vigilante Frank Castle Returns, Prepared to Enact More Violence as the Punisher

The Punisher's back, baby! And this time, it ain't just on our screens - Marvel's badass antihero is gracing the comics pages once more in the gruesome five-issue miniseries, Punisher: Red Band. Written by Ben Percy (known for his work on Wolverine) and Julius Ohta (Iron Man), this series promises to deliver a bloodbath of epic proportions.

Frank Castle, our favorite guy with a grudge and a serious lead foot, hasn't been seen since 2023, when he took control of the Hand ninja cult, found out his wife was alive and wanted a divorce, and got shipped off to Weirdworld. Now, he's back in New York with no recollection of his chaotic past, but let's face it - a man like Frank doesn't forget how to kill people. So, he'll do what he does best.

Just like his TV counterpart, this new comic version of Frank is going to dish out some bloody justice. And to emphasize that this series isn't for the faint of heart, it comes with a "Red Band" label, usually reserved for films with more explicit content than sanitized comics.

Ben Percy himself couldn't contain his excitement, proclaiming, "I've been dying to write a Punisher series for ages. I'm planning to dive headfirst into this, giving readers the grittiest, bloodiest tale I can conjure."

Marvel has had its share of issues figuring out what to do with Frank. Sometimes it was due to the timing of a heavily armed vigilante on TV in the wake of mass shootings. Other times, the police co-opted his symbol and slapped it on their vehicles, which was addressed in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again when Frank took out a bunch of Punisher-loving cops.

So, what will Frank do in Punisher: Red Band? We'll have to wait until it hits shelves on September 10 to find out.
