In the world of country music, a significant loss was felt as American singer-songwriter Jeannie Seely, affectionately known as "Miss Country Soul," passed away at the age of 85 in Hermitage, a suburb of Nashville, due to complications from an infection.

Born in 1940 in Titusville, Pennsylvania, Seely rose to prominence in the mid-1960s and left an indelible mark on the genre. She is best known for her 1966 breakthrough hit "Don't Touch Me," which reached No. 2 on the U.S. country charts and won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

Seely, a pioneering figure in country music, released her debut album, The Seely Style, which made the Top 10 on country albums charts. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1967 and performed there over 5,400 times, more than any other artist in the Opry's history, maintaining membership for 57 years. Seely was the first woman to regularly host segments on the Opry and challenged traditional norms, including fashion, by wearing a miniskirt on stage well before it was broadly accepted.

Throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, Seely charted a string of hits such as “A Wanderin’ Man,” “I’ll Love You More (Than You Need),” and “Can I Sleep in Your Arms?” She also formed a successful duet partnership with Jack Greene, scoring a Top 10 hit in 1969 with “Wish I Didn’t Have to Miss You.” Besides performing, Seely was an acclaimed songwriter whose work was recorded by country icons like Faron Young, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and others, earning her BMI Songwriter awards.

Her influential career spanned over five decades, during which she challenged industry norms for female artists and contributed significantly to shaping the role of women in country music. Seely passed away in 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a groundbreaking figure in country music.

Meanwhile, in the city of Hamm, Germany, the tourism industry is facing uncertainty. A decline in public bath visitors during July has been noted, but the specific reasons for this drop remain unclear. To improve safety and security, Hamm police are expanding video surveillance around the train station. However, the exact location of the expanded surveillance is not detailed.

Elsewhere in Hamm, the construction project on Goethestraße is nearing completion. The impact of this development on the city's tourism and daily life remains to be seen.
