Venerable singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan releases her long-awaited new album after more than ten years.

Sarah McLachlan, one of the most poetic singer-songwriters of the '90s, has made a comeback after an 11-year hiatus with her new original album, "Better Broken." This album, brushing up against folktronica and trip-hop, has a similar pulse to her sound in the '90s but offers a fresh, contemporary twist.

The title track of the album, "Better Broken," features a more beat-oriented sound, while "One In A Long Line" is the centerpiece of the record, considered an anthem for women's rights. McLachlan's daughters also participate in this empowering song.

"One In A Long Line" feels very present, very now, and very real for the current moment, reflecting McLachlan's continued relevance and impact in the music industry.

In addition to the new album, a new documentary about the Lilith Fair Music Festival, titled "Lilith Fair: Building A Mystery," has been released. This documentary showcases the success of the tour, which was one of the most successful in the country, and had a fantastic soundtrack.

Sarah McLachlan created the Lilith Fair Music Festival in the '90s, aiming to challenge the notion that women couldn't succeed together in music and to prove skeptics wrong. The Lilith Fair documentary features interviews with various artists who participated in the festival, including Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, and Missy Elliott.

The documentary also highlights how McLachlan destroyed the notion that women artists could not be played back-to-back or tour together. This groundbreaking achievement is further emphasized by Olivia Rodrigo's amazement at the festival's all-women lineup, as revealed in the documentary.

Before releasing the album "Better Broken," McLachlan launched the all-female Lilith Fair tour. The NPR Music New Music Friday podcast has an episode featuring an interview with Kyle Meredith, program director and host at WFPK in Louisville, discussing the album and the tour's impact.

McLachlan has sold over 40 million albums and won three Grammys. She is best known for several hits in the '90s, including "Angel" and "Building A Mystery." With her new album and the release of the Lilith Fair documentary, McLachlan continues to make her mark in the music industry, inspiring a new generation of artists.
