A Scary Motorcycle Mishap for Vlade Divac
Venerable NBA star Vlade Divac endures critical surgery following terrifying motorbike crash accident.
In a jaw-dropping incident, basketball icon Vlade Divac found himself in emergency surgery for an artificial hip on June 20, 2025, following a motorcycle mishap the previous day. Recall the chilling details? He plummeted off his bike near the picturesque Montenegrin Adriatic Sea coast on June 19.
According to the Associated Press, Divac, now 57, sustained a broken hip in the accident. A hospital spokeswoman, Ljubica Mitrovic, shared with media outlets that a surgical procedure was immediately performed, and Divac is currently under the diligent eyes of medical professionals, in a stable state both physically and generally[1][2][3][4].
Divac unfortunately cannot stand due to the injuries[5]. As one of the pioneering European players in the NBA, Divac made his North American debut in 1989 with the Lakers, earning All-Rookie honors[1][2].
His 16-season NBA career spanned teams such as the Hornets, Kings, and his beloved Lakers, before he hung up his jersey after the 2004-05 campaign. Interestingly, Divac became the first player born and trained outside the U.S. to play over 1,000 games in the league[1][2].
Sacramento retired Divac's No. 21, and he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019[1][2]. His post-playing career saw him take on roles as a Lakers scout before moving into the Kings' front office in 2015. He eventually led the team as general manager, a position he held until 2020[1][2].
At the moment, we keep Divac and his recovery in our thoughts and prayers. Let's wish the hoops legend a swift and complete recovery while hoping for the best in his future endeavors[1][2][3][4].
