Veltins unveils a new product: 10km Burgundy snags a bronze medal in the DM race.
In an impressive display of athletic prowess, Lya Bourgund, a member of LAC Veltins Hochsauerland, claimed the bronze medal in the German Championships over 10 kilometers on the road. The event was held as part of the 15th Siegburger Hit-Citylauf in Siegburg on Sunday, September 7, 2020.
The race course was an asphalted loop around the market square of Siegburg, surrounded by buildings that trapped heat, making the course increasingly in the sun. The course was winding and, in parts, over cobblestones, adding to its challenging nature.
Lya Bourgund started the race at a fast pace, describing it as "really fast." Despite the initial downhill profile, which made it challenging to maintain a calm pace, she managed to save energy for the Coursera. After a longer phase of running alone, Lya was able to gradually catch up to a group.
The final sprint was a crucial part of the race for Lya Bourgund. Despite her best efforts, she finished just two seconds behind the second place, securing her position on the podium. However, she admitted that she pulled too early during the final sprint, allowing Finja Faßbender to overtake her.
Despite this minor setback, Lya Bourgund's time of 37:43 minutes (37:41 min net) was an incredible achievement. She crossed the finish line near the Siegburger Stadtmuseum on the market square, marking the end of a grueling but successful race.
With this impressive performance, Lya Bourgund continues to prove her mettle as a formidable athlete, and her fans eagerly await her future races.
