Vegan bacon recalled in Ontario over hidden wheat allergen risk

A popular vegan bacon slice product has been recalled in Ontario due to an undeclared allergen. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall for Veggie Paradise Vegan Bacon Slice because it contains wheat, which was not listed on the packaging. The affected batch, a 300g package with UPC 8 13794 00030 5 and a best before date of Sept. 24, 2026, was distributed across Ontario stores. Wheat is a known allergen that can trigger severe reactions in those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. Despite the risk, no illnesses linked to this product have been reported. The CFIA has confirmed that the recalled items are being removed from the marketplace. Consumers with allergies or sensitivities are advised to check their purchases. Anyone who has bought the affected batch should return it or dispose of it safely. The recall aims to prevent potential health risks for those with wheat allergies or intolerances. Shoppers who may have purchased the product are urged to verify the UPC and best before date. Further updates will be provided by the CFIA if needed.
