Vance, identified as JD, disputes any intentions to strategize around the Epstein controversy [UPDATE]

In a twist of events, Vice President JD Vance has found himself at the centre of a controversy, with reports suggesting that he was scheduled to host a meeting at his residence to discuss the Jeffrey Epstein case involving Trump administration officials. However, Vance has officially denied any such meeting, stating it as "pure fiction."

According to Fox News, Vance was expected to host senior Trump administration officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, for a discussion on how to handle the Epstein fallout and the next steps. NBC News, on the other hand, reported that while Vance's spokesman denied a meeting specifically to discuss Epstein strategy, there were people gathering at Vance's residence for discussions related to the matter. ABC News added that Vance was expected to host a strategy session at his home about whether to release the Ghislaine Maxwell interview transcript, which is relevant to the Epstein case.

Despite Vance's public denial, sources suggest that there was at least a gathering about Epstein-related issues. The House Oversight Committee, however, has not sought testimony from former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, who struck a controversial plea deal with Epstein during his tenure as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

The family of Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser, issued a statement in response to the reported meeting at Vance's residence, expressing concern about the absence of Epstein's abuse survivors in the guest list. The statement emphasised the importance of hearing the voices of Epstein's survivors, particularly in this context.

Meanwhile, Maxwell, serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking a minor, has claimed that she never witnessed Trump doing anything that would have caused concern during their interactions. Maxwell has also been moved to a minimum-security facility in Bryan, Texas, with no explanation from the White House.

Trump has defended his lengthy meetings with Maxwell, suggesting he knew nothing about the contents of their discussion. The Trump administration is also considering releasing an audio recording and transcript of Maxwell's interview with Blanche, but no decision has been made public yet.

In a separate development, the House Oversight Committee has demanded the DOJ turn over its files on Epstein and has issued subpoenas for former officials, including the Clinton family. However, the Committee did not seek testimony from Acosta.

The controversy surrounding the alleged meeting at Vance's residence continues to unfold, with conflicting reports and denials from both sides. The importance of transparency and the inclusion of Epstein's survivors in such discussions cannot be overstated.
