Uwe Böser and his Glorious Cousins deciding to separate after 15 years together
The Glorious Cousins Bid Farewell with a Grand Finale
Uwe Boser, the charismatic frontman of the cover band The Glorious Cousins, is set to lead his family and friends in one last hurrah. The band, known for their eccentric performances, will be performing for the last time at this year's KulturSommer in Bruchsal's Atrium on August 14th.
The Glorious Cousins have been a staple in the Bruchsal music scene, gracing various venues such as Schlachthof, Exiltheater, Fabrik, Brusl Nights, and the Flugplatz-Open-Air. They've also made a name for themselves with their energetic covers, often drawing crowds with their unique takes on popular songs.
Boser, a retired professional, is joined by fellow musicians Thomas Wick from Uptown Band, who plays drums in The Glorious Cousins, and Niko Kritzer from Mama Lauda, who plays keyboard. Boser's partner, Irina Raif, also lends her talents to the band. The band's lineup is rounded out by bassist Lars Bachor, guitarist Felix Baier, and Boser's son Felix and daughter Mireille.
Torsten Baier and Robin Walter from Mannheim contribute their saxophone skills to the band's sound. The band's performances are a testament to the camaraderie and shared passion for music that binds them together.
Despite the challenges of coordinating practices due to family and work commitments, The Glorious Cousins have come up with many creative ideas for their farewell event. The band has played a variety of genres, from Uriah Heep and Héroes del Silencio to J.B.O. and Nina Hagen, reflecting Boser's eclectic musical tastes.
Boser, who learned to play the guitar as a child in school and has written four of his own songs, one of which he recorded in a studio, particularly enjoys singing Tom Jones and David Bowie. His favorite David Bowie song, "Space Oddity," is a testament to his enduring love for the legendary artist. Despite not having practiced it in half a year, Boser can still play it on the guitar.
Boser hosted live performances at his former disco, the Garage, which was one of the largest in southern Germany. The Garage, which opened in 1987 and closed in 2005, offered various music genres every workday. Artists such as Uriah Heep, Héroes del Silencio, J.B.O., and Nina Hagen performed at the Garage during its heyday.
Boser finds it challenging to memorize lyrics and remember the order of chords on the guitar, but his passion for music and performing always shines through. The era of big discotheques may be over, but Boser's legacy in the Bruchsal music scene will live on through The Glorious Cousins.
