Usyk prefers fights against two specific opponents for his final bout, bypassing Parker's challenge
Let's Talk Boxing:
Usyk vs Dubois: Ukrainian heavyweight wants more than titles
Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian heavyweight champ, is set to face Daniel Dubois for the undisputed heavyweight titles on July 19 at Wembley Stadium. But this penultimate professional outing isn't the end of the line for the Ukrainian star.
With a victory against Dubois, Usyk will take on either Joseph Parker or interim champion, as per the WBO Committee's decision. Yet, Usyk's heart doesn't seem to be set on the mandatory fights.
Instead, he's got his sights on bigger game—either Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua.
"Daniel Dubois is on my radar right now," Usyk told the Daily Mail. "But for my final fight, I have two options—Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury."
When asked which one he'd prefer, Usyk didn't hesitate: "I'd go for Tyson Fury."
Usyk and Fury have a history. Usyk managed to edge out victories against the Gypsy King in a pair of epic bouts last year. Yet, Fury still believes he should have raised his hand in both contests.
Recent social media posts hint at Fury's potential return to the ring. Whether this paves the way for a long-awaited all-British showdown with Joshua remains to be seen.
As for Joshua, his recent loss to Dubois has put him on the backburner, momentarily. But boxing fans still dream of seeing the rivals duke it out one day.
Regardless, Usyk proved he's no pushover, taking on the best the boxing world has to offer.
