USA's Men's Olympic Basketball Finalists and Schedule Announced
The U.S. Olympic men's basketball team is gearing up for an exciting summer as they prepare to compete in the Rio Games. The team will gather in Las Vegas for their training camp before heading to Rio.
The training camp roster includes some of the NBA's biggest stars, such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Kawhi Leonard, DeAndre Jordan, and Draymond Green, among others. A total of 30 players will be present at the training camp.
The team's first Olympic game will be against China on August 6 at 6 p.m. (BST). Prior to the Rio Games, the team will play several exhibition games to prepare for the competition. The U.S. will face Nigeria on August 1 in Houston, Texas, and Venezuela on July 29 in Chicago. They will also play three games against China, on July 24 in Los Angeles, July 26 in Oakland, and August 12, with the exact time and qualifier to be determined.
Following their first game, the U.S. will face Venezuela on August 8 at 6 p.m., and Australia on August 10 at 6 p.m. The quarterfinals for the U.S. team are scheduled for August 17, and the semifinals for August 19. The medal round will take place on August 21.
The coaching staff for the U.S. Olympic men's basketball team consists of Mike Krzyzewski (Duke), Jim Boeheim (Syracuse), Tom Thibodeau (Timberwolves), and Monty Williams (Thunder). Only 12 players will make the final roster for the Rio Games.
The Olympics' opening ceremonies are scheduled for August 5 at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro. Game 1 of the NBA Finals is set for Thursday night, and Game 7, if necessary, is scheduled for June 19. The U.S. Olympic men's basketball team's exhibition games will precede the Rio Games.
