U.S. President unveils Scotland's latest golf course - US President inaugurates a golf course in Scotland

In a grand ceremony held at Aberdeen, Scotland, US President Donald Trump inaugurated a new golf course on Tuesday. The course, named Trump International Golf Links, is the latest addition to the President's extensive golf portfolio, bringing his total number of golf courses to around 15, with the majority located in the USA.

The golf course, located on the northern Scottish coast, was described as a "passion project" by Eric Trump, one of the President's sons who was present at the event along with Donald Trump Jr. and the President himself. Trump cut the ribbon to officially open the course, which he described as a "labor of love" for his family.

Rich Beem, a US professional golfer, and Paul McGinley, an Irish professional golfer, accompanied the President during his first round of golf at the newly inaugurated course. The course, while a significant expansion of Trump's golf interests in Scotland, is not named after his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, contrary to some speculation.

The President's announcement to return to Washington D.C. to handle various issues came after he made a statement regarding the ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia. "Yesterday, we ended a war," Trump declared during the golf course inauguration ceremony.

The golf course at Turnberry, another of Trump's major properties in Scotland, originally opened in 1901 and is named after Ailsa Craig, an ancient uninhabited volcanic island visible offshore. The course, designed by Willie Fernie, is acclaimed worldwide, consistently ranked among the top 10 greatest golf courses by Golf Digest.

Despite extensive search results, no direct evidence exists that any of Trump's golf courses in Scotland are named after his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod. The known courses bear names tied to local geography or historic themes rather than family members.

The new golf course in Balmedie, Scotland, joins Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire as Trump's prominent golf properties in the country. The historic Turnberry resort, with its legacy dating back to the early 1900s, has hosted multiple prestigious golf championships, including four Open Championships.
