US Launches Fresh Attack on Drug Traffickers in the Caribbean

In a series of escalating events, the United States has conducted a third strike against drug traffickers in the Caribbean, according to reports. This latest action comes amidst growing concerns in Latin America about potential US military intervention against drug cartels.

The strike, which reportedly took place recently, targeted an unnamed drug trafficking group. President Donald Trump referred to the targeted organization as a "terrorist organization" linked to drug trafficking from Venezuela, although no specific group name was mentioned. Trump described those killed as "narcoterrorists" linked to Venezuelan drug cartels.

The defence minister of Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, has accused the US of executing people without due process in the Caribbean Sea. In response, President Nicolas Maduro accused President Trump of attempting to instigate regime change. Maduro also accused the US of waging an "undeclared war" in the Caribbean.

Venezuela's concerns about US military action are not unfounded. Earlier this year, the US carried out two strikes against boats operated by the Tren de Aragua group. These strikes followed the US's announcement last month to send over 4,000 sailors and marines to patrol the seas off Latin America as part of an operation against drug cartels.

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth warned following the first known strike in early September that more strikes would come. His statement seems to have been fulfilled with this latest attack. Hegseth also stated that the US has "incredible assets" gathering in the region and that the strike was not the only action that would be taken.

Chris Dalby, director of World of Crime and author of Tren de Aragua, predicted in a previous interview that the US would likely escalate its anti-drug trafficking efforts in the Caribbean. The concerns about US military action in Latin America come as the US announced plans to send over 4,000 sailors and marines to patrol the seas off Latin America.

In a bid to counter potential US intervention, Maduro announced that Venezuelan troops would provide residents of low-income neighborhoods with weapons training. This move, while controversial, suggests a readiness on the part of the Venezuelan government to respond to any perceived threat.

The strike was accompanied by a video posted on Truth Social by President Trump. The video, which has not been independently verified, shows the aftermath of the strike, with multiple explosions visible.

The rise in tensions between the US and Venezuela is a complex issue with far-reaching implications. As the situation continues to develop, it is crucial that all parties involved prioritise diplomacy and respect international law to avoid further escalation.
