In the wake of Israeli strikes, Iran's confidence in negotiating its nuclear program with the US is eroding. Donald Trump, however, sees a glimmer of hope for talks, while Iran hints otherwise.
Iranian authorities view nuclear negotiations with the US as futile after Israel's significant military operation. "How can one seriously negotiate while permitting Israel to violate Iran's sovereignty?" posed Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai, as reported by Tasnim news agency. He further suggested that US support for Israel renders talks meaningless.
Baghai added that Israel's goal has always been to sow discord among the West, and it seems they have triumphed again in manipulating diplomacy.

The government-critical analyst, Sadegh Zibakalam, stated on Twitter that Israel's attack on Iran was aimed at obstructing a possible agreement between Iran and the US.
Trump himself called for negotiations over the nuclear deal on Truth Social after the Israeli attacks, stating, "We offered them a chance, and they didn't take it." He later tweeted about a "second chance" for Iran to reach a diplomatic settlement.
Despite the impending outbreak of war, Iran's foreign minister, leading the negotiations for Tehran, has yet to confirm whether negotiations scheduled for Sunday will proceed. Regarding the talks proposed by mediator Oman, Baghai said, "The decision we'll make regarding this remains unclear for Sunday."
