Urgent Demand: Trump Calls for Instant Liberation of All Hostages Held in the Gaza Strip
During his state visit to the UK on the 18th of September, 2025, US President Donald Trump made a public call for the immediate release of all hostages being held by Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The call was made at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Trump expressed his concerns about the hostages, stating, "I want the hostages released immediately, right now."
Trump's call for action came as a reminder of the violent conflict in the Gaza Strip, a topic of ongoing disagreement between the two leaders. Trump referred to their differences as "one of our few disagreements."
In the same press conference, Trump described the day Hamas attacked Israel, October 7, 2023, as "one of the worst, most violent days" in world history. However, he did not comment on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip during the press conference.
Interestingly, British Prime Minister Starmer announced that the United Kingdom plans to recognise the Palestinian state, with the name "Palestine." This recognition is expected to happen amid ongoing discussions related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Gaza war in 2025.
As of the mentioned date, there are still 48 hostages in the Gaza Strip, with 20 of them reportedly still alive.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Trump has called for the release of hostages held by Hamas. Previously, he had advocated for their freedom in relation to the Gaza conflict.
Meanwhile, a media report suggests that Great Britain is on the verge of recognising a Palestinian state, a step that the USA will not take at this time. The exact details of the location and time of the call were not specified.
