Urgent Action Needed: Assessing Romania's Competitive Standing! Paneuropa initiates public discourse on action strategy based on recommendations from the Draghi Report

Romania, a country with over 90% of its foreign trade directed towards European Union member states, has taken a significant step towards enhancing its role within the EU. Paneuropa Romania, a movement advocating for deeper European integration, has launched a strategic action plan to boost Romania's competitiveness and influence in the EU.

Alexandru Nazare, the President of Paneuropa Romania, leads the charge. Under his leadership, the movement has proposed a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening Romania's voice in European affairs and ensuring its involvement in EU policymaking from the initial stages, not just at the implementation level.

One of the key proposals is to make Romania a research and development hub in the automotive and high-tech sectors. This move is expected to foster innovation and industrial competitiveness, positioning Romania as a significant player in these industries.

In line with this, Paneuropa Romania has proposed increased defense spending and the development of a competitive European industry. A "Cyber Shield" for Europe to protect critical infrastructure is also part of the proposal.

The strategic action plan also emphasizes the need for modernizing infrastructure and connecting Romania to the Trans-European Transport Network. This initiative aims to improve Romania's connectivity within the EU and boost its competitiveness in the internal market.

Moreover, Paneuropa Romania has proposed stronger representation in Brussels on energy policy. This move is intended to help Romania better defend its interests and become an active player in the European decision-making architecture.

In addition, the movement has proposed accelerating digitalization and A.I. adoption in Romania. This initiative is expected to help Romania stay competitive in the digital age and attract investment in these high-growth sectors.

The document, which represents an action plan aligned with the recommendations of the Draghi Report, will be submitted to the European Commission in February, through the Paneuropean Union and the Government of Romania.

The consultations for the strategic white paper are ongoing, and the general public is invited to participate. The document outlines priorities in key areas such as strengthening governance, energy, computing & A.I., defense, revamping competition, transport, digitalization & advanced technologies, sustaining investment, accelerating innovation, semiconductors, energy-intensive industries, pharma, automotive, and closing the skills gap.

Paneuropa Romania is part of the Paneuropean International Union, a prestigious European unification initiative that played a significant role in the formation of the European Council and the European Union. Romania returned to the Paneuropean International Union after 80 years.

Paneuropa Romania has recently launched a new office in Bucharest, further demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Romanian Government and Parliament in adopting coherent and proactive policies. A strategic and coherent approach, the movement believes, is essential for Romania to maximize its advantages in the EU.

For detailed, up-to-date specifics of Paneuropa Romania's latest strategic action plan, it is recommended to consult their official publications or website directly.

During the consultations for the strategic white paper, the general public is invited to participate and provide feedback. This input is crucial as it will help shape Romania's future in areas such as sports (introducing initiatives for national sports development to enhance Romania's competitiveness in European sports).

In line with the proposed modernization of infrastructure, the strategic action plan also emphasizes the need for facilities to accommodate major sporting events, thereby boosting tourism and Romania's overall profile within the EU.
